Nomadic: Paleolithic people moved place to place.
Nomadic means any person who does not have a permanent home.
Sedentary: Neolithic people stayed in one place.
Sedentary means that humans stay in one place for most of the time.
Fertile: Fertile means land that is good for farming.
Fertile means being able to produce an offspring.
Agriculture: Agriculture means farming the land, growing plants, and breeding animals.
Cultivate: Cultivate means to prepare land to grow food.
Forage: Forage means to gather food.
Palaeolithic people used to hunt and gather food. This was hard on them because they wouldn't always catch their prey. Neolithic people were sedentary and farmed. They also sometimes hunted. These two groups are different because they have two different ways of life.
September 11
The students started with their sixty seconds of mindfulness. The students then went over keywords for five minutes before they started their quiz. Then we began reading an article about how human technology has evolved.
September 8
The students started with their sixty seconds of mindfulness. The students then went over keywords that will be on Monday's quiz. We then wrote a 5 paragraphs essay on why fire was important to Palaeolithic people. Below is what we came up with as a class.
Introduction
In the article, "What's So Great About Fire?" the author writes about how Palaeolithic people used fire to survive. This essay will discuss how fire made food taste better, scared away animals, and killed germs on food.
Body Paragraph 1
The first idea that will be discussed is how fire made food taste better. Palaeolithic people cooked meat and vegetables. Raw meat is hard to chew. Cooking meat makes it softer and taste better.
Body Paragraph 2
The second idea that will be discussed is how fire was used to scare away predators, such as lions, tigers, and snakes. Fire was used to see animals at night. The animals stayed away because they strike when humans can't see them. The fire allowed humans to spot predators.
Body Paragraph 3
The third idea that will be discussed is how fire was used to kill germs. When food is cooked it kills germs. Cooking kills the germs so Palaeolithic people don't get diseases. This allowed them to live longer.
Conclusion
In conclusion, fire allowed Palaeolithic people to survive longer. Fire made food taste better, scared away predators, and killed germs. Without fire, humans made not have survived or lived the way that we do today.
